“The Person You (Don’t) Want To Be”, an anti-personality book drawn from workplace encounters.
The project began with a long list of “personalities” built over numerous meetings and encounters. I then asked friends to pick a “personality” from a list and record themselves “performing” the role. They sent me their videos and I then drew anywhere from 8-12 frames to make short animations. It contains two parts.
- An open edition personality swatch book with companion augmented reality (AR) app, through which 21 short animations can be accessed.
- A limited-edition hand-assembled waterfall card set.
It premiered at Art on Paper, as part of “Vellum Projects at Vellum Magazine” Pier 36, New York NY, March 2020.

The Person You (Don’t) Want To Be Swatch Book comes with a free companion augmented reality app. It is available for iOS, Android, and through the EyeJack app for those, who for whatever reason, cannot get the native platforms to run on their mobile device. The AR app allows owners of the book to access the twenty-one animations digitally. (A collaboration with Rui Pereira)
