2024. Based on the Danish Fairy Tale, “Prince Lindworm” consists of a limited edition box-set of 28 tunnel books, a 14-minute animation featuring music and sound design by Michael Lawson, and a 56-page graphic novel.
Prince Lindworm (published in the 19th Century, by Folklorist Svend Grundtvig), tells the story of a King and Queen who enlist the assistance of an old witch to have a child. When the Queen fails to follow the witch’s instructions, she gives birth to twins, a human boy and a serpent monster. Although the serpent initially disappears, it returns when his human brother goes out into the world to seek a bride.
The limited edition box set consists of 28 tunnel books (6″ x 4.75″ x 1″) and a small LED tablet with animation. It is an edition of 10.
The book and animation premiered at the New York Rare Book & Fine Press Fair (April 2024) and as an installation in CENTRAL BOOKING’s “The Visual Read”, at the Gracefield Arts Center in Dumfries, Scotland (June 2024). (see install)
The graphic novel premiered at the Ghost Ship Market’s “We All Fall Down” at the Old Salem Town Hall (August 2024) and will be available through Etsy beginning May 2025.
